According to a statement by the Police Service Commission, barely three weeks after they opened the portal for applications, 705,352 applicants have sent in applications for just 10,000 vacancies.
The statement said '202,427 had successfully applied for the position of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police', '169,446 for Cadet Inspector' & '333,479 as Constables'.
The commission only needs 500 Cadet Asps, 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7, 500 Constables to meet President Buhari’s approved 10,000 new entrants into the Force.
The Police Service Commission chairman, Sir Mike Okiro, said there will be fairness and equal opportunity for all applications as the Commission was only interested in recruiting the best brains for the police force.
