#BBNaija: My Mother’s Last Words To Me Were ‘I Love You’—Lolu:

Today, the name Lolu would easily ring a bell in the Nigerian entertainment scene, all thanks to the recently concluded Big Brother Naija reality television show. Even though the young man has succeeded in attaining fame, he is sad that his mother is not alive to see how far he has gone in life.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, the reality show star said that even though his mother died about eight years ago, he is still pained that she did not live long enough to reap the fruit of her labour.

He said, “The last thing my mother said to me was, ‘call me tomorrow after your sister’s exams, I love you.’ It has been eight years but it still feels like yesterday, I had to grow up really quickly and be more responsible. Sometimes, I try to find comfort in the fact that she had to go for me to grow. As you may be aware, I’ll rather have her here but I have a great father and my siblings are the best anyone could wish for, Olaide and Ololade especially. I hope my mum is looking down and smiling. Naturally, I am sad but it is the reality of my life and I am doing my best to handle it. I am her only son and the bond we shared was quite strong. I love her more every day but mum’s little boy has to keep his head up and keep pushing till I’m successful as she always hoped and prayed that I’d be.”

Lolu told Saturday Beats that he has no plans for marriage at the moment simply because he still has a lot to accomplish and he does not want to be distracted. “As much as I crave to be a really good husband and dad, I am not in a hurry to get married. At this point, it is imperative that I focus on my career as much as I can. Anto and I will remain friends, and if we decide to be together, then it will be something I would envisage would lead to the altar. It is a privilege to have all the love I get from the ladies, I try to be as friendly as I can but also quick to draw the line. I am blessed to have such a followership from women all over the world and the support they show keeps me going,” he said.
